Trying hard to keep her balance, Shaiya followed Talos, leaning against his side again not only to help her own balance, but also to lend her strength and energy. Every step brought her closer to walking with perfection, which pleased her greatly indeed. Though their progress was slow, it helped Shaiya greatly, and when they reached the edge of the nest, she was standing easily on her own. Talos... I think we can get away now. Drop the barrier. It's only weakening you. Come on! Her voice was frantic, and she tried with all her might to not say it out-loud, but she was anxious. Not only did she want to get away from the evil dragons, she was quite ravenous, and would not last much longer without food or water.

Keeping her instincts to find food aside, she nudged Talos' shoulder and bounded ahead, out of the nest and out of the barrier that Talos had provided. If anything, his want and need to keep her safe would force him to run too... She hoped. Come on Talos... She thought. You can do it. I know you're tired, but I know you're strong, too. I've been observing you...

He greatly appreciated how Shaiya stayed at his side and leant him her energy, even though she was probably very anxious to go and find some food. He remembered how hungry he had been when he had first hatched. He continued walking, even though he could feel his energy leaving him rapidly, even with the boost that Shaiya had given him. He was relieved that the young Crystal Dragon was walking easily now, but he didn't know if she would be able to maintain their pace for a long length of time. He shook his head furiously to clear it, knowing that he had to keep his full concentration on maintaining the barrier. In his mind, he heard Shaiya tell him to drop the barrier, as it was only weakening him, but he was reluctant to give up their only sure means of protection.

He was shocked into a decision, however, when Shaiya suddenly nudged him in the shoulder and ran out of the barrier, heading straight for the edge of the Nest. He made a split second decision and could only pray that it was the right one. He dropped the barrier he had so desperately constructed and tore off after the young hatchling, knowing that she wouldn't be able to survive on her own, young as she was. He ran desperately after her, his need to protect overwhelming his need to maintain his barrier.
