((Arriving by Air from the Nest Area))
The huge form of Nefarion blotted out the sun above the Orc and Goblin Tribes assembled near the mouth of his lair, deep in the Shadow Mountains. Swooping down, Nefarion landed hard on purpose, shaking the very ground and startling the nearby Orcs and Goblins. Roaring his greeting to the skies above, the Lord of the Shadow Mountain Range settled down just in time for the first Group of Orcs to deliver his customary meal of 3-4 mountain goats, freshly killed. Nefarion chomped down his meal, and waved the Orcs forward to state their business. One Taskmaster Orc came forward to speak... "Lord Nefarion, the Goblin miners in Mine Seven are refusing to work...I await your justice to be carried out." Nefarion paused in his meal and grinned to the Orc, opening his mouth to speak.."Yes, yes. The Goblin problem. Worry not, my green little minion. Scragg will be along to organize the proper response. It is dealt with." The Orc began to back away bowing, and spoke a farewell.. "Great Nefarion, you are truly all-knowing, thank you for your strong leadership. We shall make sure the mine preforms even better by the next report!!" And with that, the business of the day was finished. The other Orcs were happy to just leave the few small bundles of raw gemstones and metal ores at the feet of Nefarion.
After the Orcs and others leave, and Nefarion is finished eating, a cloaked Dwarven figure emerges from the depths of Nefarion's Lair. "Ah, the raw materials are here for me to process! Well, my Lord...I should begin turning these into real treasures." the hooded figure said in a heavy Dwarven accent. Nefarion nodded and spoke in a unbelievably quiet, deep voice... "Yes.....We need the Ingots and finished gems. They will help a great deal with my affairs in the lands below the mountains." Nefarion thought to himself, pleased with his own brilliant plans.. Those Human whelps will bend to my rule, as they should! I am Nefarion, Lord over all lesser creatures! With the livestock and crops of the Human areas below the mountains, and the mines and ores of my Mountains, I should be slowly moving closer to my mastery of the lands of Humankind. Then, the Elves will need to be conquered...and the Dwarves *pauses to look at his Dwarf smith* ...can be bought as allies. All will proceed well, even if it takes me 100 years.

Nefarion paused in contemplation. He gestured with a clawed hand at his Dwarven smith... "You will wait on the regular gem processing for now. Remember that necklace I commissioned you to make for me?" The Dwarf nodded and gave a gruff laugh before responding.. "Yes, Lord Nefarion, It was only lacking a centerpiece stone, something to offset the heavy gold chain..You have something in mind?" Nefarion shifted his weight to reach for a large raw stone about the size of a pineapple. Picking up the stone, he examined it in the light and handed the rough Emerald to the Dwarves outstretched hands.. "This will be the centerpiece. And the moment you are done, you are to deliver it to the Nestmother Emerald. You are to be respectful, and place the necklace around her neck personally. Tell her it is a gift of my apologies. Will this take you long to craft??" The Dwarf looked at the rough gem and smiled... "This will not take me more than a few hours, it's such a large specimen. I will set it and bring the finished product to the Lady Emerald...if that be your will?" The Dwarf bowed and waited for the response.
"Yes! Good Dwarf...If she is pleased with the gift of mine, then I will triple your salary for this month, So, I hope you will pour your soul into it." Nefarion knew that the expensive jewelry wouldn't make the Nestmother forgive him...But he did want her to at least remember and think of him because of it. Nefarion was having trouble admitting it to himself, but he was sincerely crushed to be expelled from the Nestmother's presence. Nefarion nodded and the Dwarf left for his Jewelcrafter's workplace, leaving the Lord of the Shadow Mountains alone with his thoughts. She can't truly hate me, can she? Thought the Dragon Lord to himself sullenly. Why not, you golden moron? She wouldn't let you darken her with your shadow again if she was smart.. replied the little voice of self-doubt that made up part of Nefarion's consciousness. Nefarion grumbled and swatted the remaining gems off the ledge of his perch high above the seven gem mines below. The stones bounced and finally disappeared down one of the mine-shafts. What good are mountains of gems if I have no one to share them with? Nefarion thought to himself sullenly. He was proud of his plans to conquer the small human realms at the base of his mountains, but could still feel a sense that he was missing something important in his life, but couldn't admit it to himself that it may be something Emerald-green scaled and pretty.

Nefarion quietly watched his workers from his high perch above the mines. Looking down, he could see that now the Goblins knew their place, and were now working as they should. It seems my measures have reminded them who is in charge in these mountains.. Thought Nefarion with a little satisfaction. He was considering if he should go find some food when his Dwarven Smith Hendrik Stoneflower returned with the completed necklace. The very large Emerald, now cut properly, hung from a thick golden, rope like chain. The Dwarf held up the masterpiece to Nefarion and a thousand green stars winked through the Emerald as it caught the light. "Do you like my work, Lord Nefarion?" Asked the Dwarf tentatively.
Nefarion brought his face closer to the Dwarf..."Yes, I think it is one of your finest works, but that doesn't matter to me. I will only be happy if Emerald likes it. Succeed in that, and I will triple your wage for this month." The Dwarf nodded slightly and spoke.. "Then I shall head to the Nest now, and deliver your gift!" With a gentle nod of Nefarion's head, the Dwarf proceeded to bow, then leave for the nest. Nefarion called after him "Please, convey my warm, heartfelt wishes, I want her to know that I think of her constantly." Nefarion had never said such words in his long life. Nefarion wasn't a dragon that ever had thoughts even close to love, unless you counted a love of power. But now, the Lord of the Shadow Mountain range felt a small spark in his heart. Why do I feel like this? Whenever I think of the Nestmother, my heart beats a bit faster...Am I growing weak-minded? I guess we shall have to see. Nefarion thought these things to himself, then decided to have Scragg fetch him a fresh Elk to eat. With Scragg gone, the Lord of the Shadow Mountains rested his head on the edge of his cliff, and waited for the Dwarf to report either success or failure.

After a while, Lord Nefarion was wondering if his Dwarven Smith was going to return at all. Just when Nefarion was going to send someone after him, his Human Chief of Espionage walked her delicate frame into the range of his vision. The Human woman had managed to sneak almost right up to Nefarion! "Delfina Le Bruness..It has been a while. I trust you have some good news for me?" Rumbled Nefarion in greeting to his servant. She managed to get too close to me before I noticed her, I should keep aware of such things. This Emerald...the Nestmother, thoughts of her are distracting... Mused Nefarion to himself.
"Of course, Lord Nefarion.." Spoke Delfina confidently, adding a slight bow before continuing. "..There are three human lands at the bottom of your mountain range. They are in constant turmoil with each other. But...I have found that one of the so-called Kings is very interested in helping your cause." Delfina giggled a bit, in a way that a human male would have found entrancing, Nefarion, however was not human in the least. "Delfina! It seems that your giggle is a sign that you have done something underhanded! Please, let me know what you have accomplished." Nefarion paused to hear her news..
"Well, that very same lord is in love with me now, it seems.." Delfina pretended to look like an innocent woman "...That the stupid man is ready to do your will. He even went as far to invite the other two human kings to a 'meeting'. The Elven Speaker ((King)) told them not to go, but they did. By the way, the fool King that is in love with me is named Karkarion Fendris. Well, the two kings arrived at Karkarion's castle. They basically told Karkarion that they would never be allied to him, then they left Karkarion immediately and went back home. However, once that ponce-ninny Karkarion saw them leave, he began to fear for his safety... For the two Kings were equal in power to him. If the two joined against him, he feared defeat was imminent. Once I calmed the fool down, I assured him that my master would not let him suffer defeat. So, in cover of darkness, I caught up to the two Human kings that night. Apparently...*giggle* ...they both 'disappeared'. So, basically, both of their kingdoms are in complete disarray. The Elven Speaker had sent out Rangers to find the two kings. It's too bad that they won't be found alive." Delfina finished the report as if she were telling Nefarion about the weather. "You are truly devious, Agent Delfina. I shall reward you as usual, with a bonus for ....excellent work." Replied Nefarion. "You may go now...Agent Delfina. Enact the next phase of our plans before King Karkarion messes things up. Instruct him to not grab any land from his enemies. We cannot afford the Elven Speaker assisting the other two kingdoms with his Elven Rangers.. You are dismissed.." And Nefarion finished, waving a claw, to let Delfina disappear into the shadows.

Soon after Delfina left, Hendrik returned bearing news! "Lady Emerald had shown pleasure in your gift! I had also provided some Free Passage Medallions to the two hatchlings there as you wished as well." Nefarion turned his head to the Dwarf Smith... "Excellent! I shall triple your wages, take a week off. Go see your family, and bring news to your King that I look forward to our continued friendship." Nefarion waved a claw in dismissal and the happy Hendrik Stoneflower left to prepare himself for a short vacation.
Nefarion slowly rose to his feet, spreading his wings. Perhaps it is now alright for me to return to the nest. There is a new hatchling? I should like to see that, perhaps it may be an Evil dragon wyrmling? Hm.... thought Nefarion as he lept off of the cliff in front of his lair. Down Nefarion swooped and frightened a small family of Goblins below him. He snapped his jaws at them, sending them running. Nefarion missed on purpose, for he wished to keep them reminded of just where they were situated in the food chain. Then turning to the sky, Nefarion gained sufficient altitude. Looking down, he angled his decent, and came swooping towards the Nest once more, and towards a reunion..
