The Lord Returns

Silverein smiled as he felt the familiar icy wind under his wings and felt the cold trying to reach him. Here he was at home, having spent many centuries learning every knook and crany of the Ice Mountains. He took a deep breath and reveled in the cold wind that filled his nostrils, bringing with it information about what had been going on it his absence. He smiled wider as he approached his great crystal palace, where he ruled over all the creatures of the Ice Mountains and Frozen Forest. He waved to a few Yeti that were mining jewels below him and then continued on his way to his castle. He landed in front of the castle and nodded to the two Frozen Serpents guarding the door. He then spoke the password and the Serpents nodded before moving aside to let him through.

He moved into his throne room and smiled as he looked around, noting that everything was unchanged since he'd left, not that that surprised him given the fact that two Frozen Serpents were guarding the door. He walked up the raised platform, turned towards the door, and smiled as he sat down and curled his tail over his feet like cat. He took another deep breath and smiled happily, glad that he was home again. He wondered if any of the little ones would come visit him, since the amulets he'd given them guaranteed safe passage through the Ice Mountains. He smiled again as he turned his attention back to matters at hand, ruling the Ice Mountains for instance, and hearing the reports of what had been going on in his absence.

Jirav swallowed nervously as he approached the door to the great crystal palace. He had only been there a few times in his existence, and those times he'd been too nervous to really appreciate the palace in its entirety. As a mere vassal to the King of Ice Elves, he considered it an honor to make the yearly report of what had been happening in the Ice Mountains to Lord Silverein, the dragon who had earned himself the title of Lord of the Ice Mountain Range and Frozen Forest. All the creatures of the Ice Mountains and Frozen Forest were happy to have a mighty dragon such as Lord Silverein rule them, but that didn't mean they weren't nervous in his presence, especially given how much power he seemed to wield without effort. He shook his head furiously, sending the white strands whipping about, to clear it. He nodded to the two Frozen Serpents at the door and spoke the password that would gain him entrance to the palace.

He smiled slightly as the Frozen Serpents moved aside so that he could pass and he walked quickly into the throne room where he quickly bowed deeply, his long white hair brushing the floor. He took a deep breath before speaking clearly "My Lord, the King of Ice Elves is getting married to the Lady Celeria and requests the honor of your presence at the ceremony. The ceremony will be held in the Frozen Forest in a clearing near the Lake of Clarity. The ceremony will take place at noon in two weeks. The King has expressed hope that you will accept the invitation and attend." He didn't look up as he finished speaking and waited anxiously for Lord Silverein's reply.

Silverein listened patiently as the Ice Elf delivered his news. He pondered for a moment when an idea came to him and he smiled as he said "I will attend the ceremony, and I wish to invite some guests as well. Will that be alright?" he waited until he saw the Ice Elf nod before continuing "Very well, when you are finished delivering my reply to your King, I want you to take a message to dragons with the names Ryuuketsu, Mirantha, and Ricayla. You will most likely find them in the Crystal Caves. Ryuuketsu has a tiger with him named Redfang. The message is this 'You are hereby invited to the wedding of King Flurios and Lady Celeria. You may bring as many guests as you wish. The wedding will be held at noon in two weeks in a clearing near the Lake of Clarity.' That will be all. Now, I suggest you hurry back to your King with the news that I will be attending, along with some friends if all goes well." he nodded to show he was finished and waved a claw to show the Ice Elf that he could leave.

Jirav let a breath he didn't even know he was holding and immediately straightened, bowed deeply again, and turned towards the door. He walked calmly out of the door, nodded to the Frozen Serpents, and kept walking for a few minutes before breaking out into a sprint, going as fast he was able to deliver the reply to the King. He also had to find those dragons that Lord Silverein had mentioned so that he could deliver the message in time for the wedding. At least he had a general idea of where the dragons were, but that didn't mean much since the Crystal Caves were a labyrinth and it was easy to get lost in them. He sped up as he caught sight of the Ice Elf village, he had to get everything done in time for the wedding!
